Avani Lekhara creates history, wins 2nd medal in Tokyo Paralympics

Shooter Avani Lekhara has created history by winning the 2nd medal in this year’s Paralympics. She had managed to win a bronze medal in the 50m Rifle 3P SH1 competition.

She had a decent start but had slipped to the sixth position after six series after bouncing back to win the Bronze. She ended with a score of 445.9 points.

China’s Zhang C grabbed the gold medal with a Paralympic record of 457.9. Natascha Hiltrop of Germany won the silver with a total score of 457.1.

She is the only Indian to win multiple medals at Tokyo Paralympics 2020. Overall, she is the first woman to multiple Paralympics medals in the same edition. She is just the four Indian to achieve this feat. Earlier, she became the first Indian woman to win a gold in the Paralympics. This is the 12th medal for India and 2nd on the day.

Earlier, Praveen Kumar had won the silver at the Men’s High Jump T64 event. Jonathan Broom-Edwards grabbed the gold with the jump of 2.10m.
