The fifth season of Bigg Boss Tamil began with a warm introduction from the host Kamal Hassan. The actor takes us inside the new Bigg Boss house and there were a lot of changes from the last season.
There is an underground jail instead of the usual one. The pool has been converted into the jail. After taking us through the house, he acknowledges the crowd. Yes, the crowd is back unlike the last season. They were following social distancing as well.
A fan asks Mr Kamal a question about how he keeps going even after struggles in life. Mr Kamal explains his motto.
Then we have an excellent performance from Isai Vani, the gaana singer.
She is the first contestant of the show. Mr Kamal explains the background of Gaana and appreciates her. Isai Vani explains how her father has been rejected multiple times from singing and how, today, she is singing at the same stage. She was one of the 100 women who featured in the BBC’s important women last year.
The second contestant is Raju Jayamohan. He was a part of Kanaa Kaanum Kaalangal show. He then went on to become an assistant to K Bhagyaraj. Also, a mimicry artist. He then talks in K Bhagyaraj’s voice and does an excellent job there.
He gets a surprise from K Bhagyaraj himself. He sends his wishes for Raju as he enters the house. In the promo video for him, he says that he wants to learn about himself, thus, he is entering the house.
Third contestant is Madhumitha who is a fashion designer/ model from Germany. She is a Sri Lankan and is currently an IT professional. She gifts a tie to Mr Kamal.
The three contestants has a good introduction conversation there where Isai Vani tells that she knows Madhumitha through singer Dhee.
The fourth contestant- Abhishek Raaja, the anchor, YouTube reviewer. Usually known as Cinemapaiyan. He gives a dance performance as well.
He goes in, introduces himself and it looks like it is his birthday. He gives them chocolates. Later, Isai Vani and Madhumitha decides that they would share the bed for the season.
The fifth contestant is Namitha, model, who has represented India in the Miss World and other competitions. She had won the Miss Transgender India, is the founder of Miss Trans star India.
She had to leave education because of gender identity. Also, she made her acting debut with Nadodigal 2.
Raju and Namitha checks who is the tallest.
The sixth contestant is Priyanka, Vijay TV anchor.
She introduces her with “Who’s the hero” song and says that she cannot believe singing that song before Kamal.
She says that she has only small goals and one of them is hosting Bigg Boss with Mr Kamal and he says that she is already doing that at the moment. Ma Ka Pa Anand, Benny Dayal wishes her all the best.
Former contestant Kavin gives a special dance performance.
The seventh contestant is Abhinay. Mr Kamal says that the life is a cycle, adds that he was young when he got introduced by Abhinay’s grandparents- actors Gemini Ganesan and Savitri.
Abhinay is into farming, also, he is an actor.
The eighth contestant is Pavni. She is from Hyderabad, a fashion designer and is doing serials.
She is aiming to do web series in the future. She got married when she was early but her husband killed himself. She is here to show the world that she is not reserved but is an ambivert.
The 9th contestant is Chinnaponnu. The famous folk singer who has sung songs like Naaka Mooka. She is here to promote folk arts, something that is dying at the moment.
The 10th contestant is Nadia from Malaysia. She is a model and is a mother of three. A well-known TikTok star. She enters the house with a dance performance.
The 11th contestant is Varun, who is an actor. He is the nephew of Isari Ganesh and is currently working in Gautham Menon’s Joshua.
The 12th contestant is Imman Annachi. He is a well known face, anchor of “Hello Kutties” show. He says that his wish is to turn Bigg Boss anchor for a moment and introduce Kamal Hassan as contestant. He does that, later a fan asks a question regarding his strategy and he would handle them just like handling the kids in that show.
The 13th contestant is Suruthi. She is a model and former basketball player. She does a dance performance and explains how she got into modeling.
The 14th contestant is Akshara Reddy. She is a model and also has done a film in Kannada, is into fitness. She has won multiple beauty pageant contests.
Kamal Hassan asks Akshara Reddy and Suruthi to show them how they do ramp walk.
The 15th contestant is Iykki Berry who is a celebrity cosmetic surgeon, rapper and also song writer. She performs an original number and introduces her. She is from Tanjore.
The 16th contestant is Thamarai Selvi, who is a folk artist( Naatupura paadal). Mr Kamal explains the importance of Naatupura paadal and how they usually work every single day in every single year and how the COVID19 pandemic has affected the artists. He also says that he wanted to take Marudhanayagam film after hearing a folk song.
The 17th contestant is Ciby. He is an actor. He was in the UK for a job, realized it was not his calling, came back to Chennai for acting and was last seen in Master film.
Mr Kamal says that the next contestant would be one from the audience.
The 18th contestant of the show is Niroop. He is an entrepreneur, has a start up in Bangalore. He is also trying to be an actor, says that he was rejected because of his height.
The contestants celebrates Abhishek Raaja’s birthday by making him cut Pineapple.
Then they talk to Mr Kamal through TV and he says that everyone is a winner here; audience are going to watch everyone out here. He congratulate everyone and says that he would see them all next week.
The contestants were seen talking about hair. Priyanka removes her wig and everyone has a lighter moment.
We hear Bigg Boss voice who asks the contestant to assemble and gives a speech about how the next few days would be and send his luck for all the contestants. Everyone get their things and they unpack as the light goes off.
