Deepti Sharma becomes 1st Indian women’s cricketer to ring the bell at Lords

Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma will become the first Indian woman to ring the bell at the Lord’s.

She will do the honors right before the start of Day Four of the 2nd Test between India and England.

Ringing the Bell at the Lord’s cricket ground has been a tradition introduced in 2007. Popularly known as the “Five-minute bell”, is rung to signify the start of the play on a particular day.

Usually, current or retired cricketers, cricket enthusiasts are invited to ring the bell. The first instance happened during the West Indies tour of England.
