ENG vs IND, 2nd ODI: Cross and Dunkley take England home

Sophia Dunkley made sure to silence the Indian aggression at Taunton as she took the team home with a brilliant 73* and added a fifty-plus partnership with Katherine Brunt as England won the 2nd match by five wickets.

India began well compared to their first match as both Shefali Verma game the team the necessary start by scoring 44. Smriti Mandhana once again failed to convert her start as she fell for 22. Jemimah Rodrigues, who replaced Punam Raut in the team, got out cheaply.

Soon, Mithali Raj had to carry the weight on her shoulders once again. The skipper played well for her 59. Though she did take 92 deliveries for the same, it was acceptable this time considering she was left stranded in the middle.

In the end, cameos from Goswami and Yadav took India to 221. The day totally belonged to Kate Cross. The pacer plotted well and had plans for all the players today. She were able to remove five of them and India was never the same.

In return, Harmanpreet Kaur took over the captaincy as Mithali Raj had neck pain and did not take the field today. Jhulan Goswami gave India a positive start as the team got rid of Tammy Beaumont finally.

Soon, Heather Knight became the victim of Poonam Yadav’s brilliance and then Nat Sciver got out to Sneh Rana. The big wicket at the top was Lauren Winfield-Hill’s one. The opener made sure to keep the scoreboard ticking and made 42.

Soon, Poonam Yadav removed Amy Jones as well and India would have thought that they had a chance. However, Sophia Dunkley proved it otherwise. Along with the experienced Brunt, Dunkley produced one-of-a-kind innings to take England home.
