Indian player tested positive in England, quarantined

An Indian cricketer in England has tested positive and is currently home quarantined at his relative’s house, according to reports in media.

The player is likely to join the Indian team later. According to reports, the player took a COVID19 test after he had sore throat and his report turned positive.

He is currently in isolation and the teammates, staffs who came in contact with him underwent isolation as well.

Earlier, England series against Pakistan witnessed a few debutants as a few usual players tested positive for COVID19.

There is a new Delta variant of the virus which has affected the team.

“We have been mindful that the emergence of the Delta variant, along with our move away from the stringent enforcement of biosecure environments, could increase the chances of an outbreak. We made a strategic choice to try to adapt protocols, in order to support the overall wellbeing of our players and management staff who have spent much of the last 14 months living in very restricted conditions,” ECB Chief executive Harrison had said.
