Marizanne Kapp and Chamari Athapaththu signed for Perth Scorchers

South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp and Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu will play for Perth Scorchers in the upcoming edition of the Women’s Big Bash League.

The World Number One ODI all-rounder has moved from Sydney Sixers and will play for Scorchers this year.

On the other hand, Chamari has moved from Renegades. Chamari, however, had missed out the last season due to travel restriction and her last appearance in WBBL came in 2019.

“Marizanne is one of the premier all-rounders in world cricket and has a phenomenal WBBL record,” the Scorchers’ head coach Shelley Nitschke said.

“With over a decade of international experience and a highly-regarded work ethic, Marizanne will have a strong impact both on and off field for the Scorchers. Chamari Athapaththu is an undeniable match-winner and has the ability to take the game away from the opposition quickly.”

Perth Scorchers finished fourth in the last edition of the WBBL. They were defeated by Melbourne Stars in the semi-final.
