Nicole Bolton calls time on WNCL career

Australian cricketer Nicole Bolton had announced that she is stepping away from cricket once again. However, she will continue to play for Perth Scorchers in Women’s Big Bash League.

The cricketer had played for Australia between 2014 and 2019. She now ends her career as the leading run-scorer for Western Australia.

In fact, her last match for the state came in 2019-20 edition and she scored an unbeaten century. In that season, she was the leading run-scorer of the tournament as well.

“It wasn’t an easy decision. Everyone who knows me well enough knows I do things 110 per cent and now I’ve developed a few [interests] outside of cricket, my priorities have changed.

“My heart still loves cricket but it’s something that’s not at the forefront of my mind anymore – if it’s not something that I’m able to put in 110 per cent, I think it’s time to walk away.”

She is one of the very few cricketers who had opened up about the mental health issues and had taken a break from the game.
