BCCI has announced that Rohit Sharma will take over the men’s One-Day international captaincy from Virat Kohli.
BCCI released a statement- “The All-India Senior Selection Committee also decided to name Mr Rohit Sharma as the Captain of the ODI & T20I teams going forward.”
Rohit Sharma recently led the Indian team in T20I series against New Zealand but there was no official announcement at that time.
Rohit Sharma also replaces Ajinkya Rahane as Vice captain for the upcoming Test series against South Africa. Hanuma Vihari has been added to the squad as well.
India will begin their tour with with the Boxing Day Test, on December 26. The next two Tests will be played on January 3 and January 11 respectively.
After the Test series, India will also play 3-match ODI series. The first One-Day International is scheduled to be held in Paarl on January 19.
