Indian superstar Mirabai Chanu kept her promises as she gave India the first medal in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
She is the second Indian weightlifter to win an Olympic medal after Karnam Malleswari bagged Bronze in 69kg category at the 2000 Sydney Games.
She got to an excellent start by completing her lift of 84 kg in the first attempt and then 87kg in the second. Unfortunately, she failed in the third attempt to lift 89kg.
She lifted a total of 202 kg to win the silver for the country. China’s Zhihui Hou bagged gold with 210 kg lift while Indonesia’s Windy Cantika Aisah lifted a total of 194 kg to settle for Bronze.
