India open to visit Sri Lanka for a limited-overs series

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has said that they are open to visit Sri Lanka for a six-match limited-overs series if the government allowed them.

BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal said that it all depends on government directives pertaining to lockdown relaxations and travel restrictions. “We are open to travel if it doesn’t compromise the safety and health of our boys,” he said.

The reply came as a response to the letter sent by Sri Lankan Cricket Board inviting India to play in a three-match ODI and T20I series in July end if they are willing to follow the quarantine procedures.

According to a Hindustan Times report, the SLC currently has no broadcasting partners and is looking to attract interests via the India tour. It has also been reported that the response from BCCI is to tell them that they are willing to go ahead with bilateral commitments.

However, as the number of Coronavirus cases in India is peaking, the series between India and Sri Lanka is less likely to happen in the notified time period.
