Man puts up banner mocking Coimbatore corporation for “wrong” COVID19 result, arrested

A family recently had put up a banner mocking Coimbatore Corporation’s Coronavirus test.

The family had tested positive during the test taken by the Corporation and was asked to self-isolate. However, the family went on to get tested again by a private hospital and their test came out negative. In anger, the family had put up a banner blaming the corporation. The picture went viral on social media.

The civic body had registered a complaint against the family and the family was arrested, booked under Sections 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) and 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) of the IPC, and Section 4 of Tamil Nadu Open Places (Prevention of Disfigurement) Act by Singanallur police.

The family was tested after the death of one of their family members due to COVID19.
