Yo Mahesh announces retirement from all forms of game

Tamil Nadu cricketer Yo Mahesh has announced his retirement from all forms of the game.

He took to social media to announce the news.

He wrote-
I would like to announce my retirement from all forms of the game. What do i feel about it?
Immense gratitude for this sport that has given me everything and made me the individual I am
today. 20 years is a long time, and while I would have loved to play more, sometimes you just
know it’s time.
It takes a village. And I would be failing in my duty as a cricketer if I don’t take a moment to thank
them all.

At the outset, thanks to BCCI for the opportunity to represent India at the U-19 and India A level.

It’s been an honour and with utmost pride I call it the highest point in my career to have represented my country.

I would like to thank my home state Tamil Nadu Cricket Association for nurturing and encouraging me from the tender age of 14 when I debuted for TNCA, going onto represent various age groups and finishing with 12 years of First Class Cricket.

To my two IPL franchises, Delhi Daredevils (Delhi capitals) & Chennai Super Kings for having the faith in me to represent them and for giving me the opportunity to share the dressing room with the legends of the game.

The last 5 years have been predominantly injury ridden, but I am truly grateful to India Cements for being solid and having my back during what was easily the toughest phase of my career.

Thanks to the MRF Pace Foundation for identifying me and shaping my career at a very crucial phase, which lead to many opportunities to play at the highest level.

Thanks to Dr.Andy Williams from London without whom I couldn’t have made the comeback I
did, especially when no one expected me to, given the career threatening injuries I was facing.

To all the coaches who have moulded me over different points of my career and to the numerous
Physios and S&Cs for helping me be my fittest best.

To the hundreds of players whom I have been blessed to have met, played alongside, shared a
room with, cried on losing, and of course rejoiced victories with. An experience that will be etched
in my heart forever. It’s been an honour playing along side you.

Thanks to my educational institutions St.Bede’s & Vivekananda college for their unconditional
support in letting me pursue my passion to the fullest.

And to my constants my family.

Dad- whatever i have achieved wouldn’t have been possible without his sacrifices

Mom and Sis- for always taking the best care of me

My loving wife- who has been my backbone and my pillar of support
And my beautiful kids- for loving me unconditionally & purely

A big, big hug and thank you. I love you guys.

Onward and upward to the next phase of my life. It’s going to be exciting!

Until then, signing off with immense gratitude, honour and pride.
