My real goal is to win 2023 World Cup for the team: Sreesanth

Indian pacer Sreesanth will be returning to action with Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy after his spot-fixing ban and will represent Kerala once again. The pacer, in a recent interview with TOI, said that he not just looking forward to play the upcoming season but also to win the 2023 World Cup with India.

“As a fast bowler, I will be creating history but then, I like to create history. I am not just looking at the season ahead but at the next three years. My real goal is to be in the 2023 World Cup team and win the cup,” he said.

Talking about his fitness, the 37 years old pacer said that he doesn’t have a lot left in the sport because of the age but added that Paes had won Grand Slam at the age of 42.

“It is true that it is the kind of age when there is nothing much left to achieve in sports. But then, someone like Leander Paes won a grand slam at 42. Roger Federer is another case in point,” he added.

He also added that he can still swing the ball both ways and can reach 135-140 kmph with ease. He said that he will be more accurate and his run-up will be shorter than usual.
