Quinton de Kock not to continue as captain after PAK tour

South African skipper Quinton de Kock will be released from the burden of captaincy in Test cricket after the final Test against Pakistan.

The team will be taking a decision slowly as there isn’t any Test cricket soon for South Africa after the Pakistan tour.

The coach Mark Boucher has said,
“When we get back after this tour we’ve got a bit of time before our next Test series so we can sit down and make a good, solid call on who can take over from him and release him from that burden and try and get the best out of him. It’s been tough on Quinny. If you’re not scoring runs it gets highlighted, especially if you’re a captain.”

South Africa were supposed to host Australia but the latter had spoken to the board and the tour has been postponed due to the pandemic situation.

Quinton de Kock waa appointed as the captain for all the three formats recently. The wicketkeeper-batter was appointed as the Test captain for the summer until the board come up with a permanent replacement. Now that the tour is over, he will be released from the duty and the team will be looking for the perfect candidate to replace him.
