Dhoni wasn’t dropped but was unavailable for selection, confirms MSK Prasad

When the Indian squad for the T20I series against South Africa was announced, there was a huge disappointment for MS Dhoni’s fans as his name was missing from the squad. Now, the selector MSK Prasad has confirmed that the former Indian captain was not dropped but he wasn’t available for the selection.

“Yes he was unavailable for selection,” MSK Prasad told India Today.

Going roughly by the date of the “self-imposed” break which started on July 21, the date when the squad for West Indies series was selected, Dhoni’s break ends on September 21, a day before the final T20I against South Africa.

Dhoni who is back from his Army commitments is currently vacationing in the US.

Meanwhile, India has gone with more or less the similar squad for the South Africa T20I that won 3-0 against West Indies.

Hardik Pandya is back into the squad whereas, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah are rested.
