Australia moves to top of ICC rankings in Test and T20Is

In the latest released ICC rankings, Australia went past India and Pakistan to gain the number one ranking in Test and T20Is respectively.

India is displaced for the first time since October 2016 and they are now ranked third with New Zealand remaining in the second rank. There isn’t much of a point difference between them as the three teams are separated by one point.

Australia, a team that was in the rumbles post the sandpaper-gate in March 2018, has moved up since the series loss to India. They won against Sri Lanka, retained the ashes, beat Pakistan and New Zealand at home to get to the top of the rankings.

Pakistan went down to fourth position from the top. This is the first time in the last 27 months they have been displaced from number one ranking. Australia has taken over the top ranking followed by England and India.

As far as ODI ranking is concerned, World Champions England held on to the top ranking followed by India, New Zealand and South Africa.
