IPL 2020: Mitchell Starc opt-out, Maxwell available for auction

Australian pacer Mitchell Starc has opted out of the upcoming season of Indian Premier League for the second consecutive season.

This is the fourth consecutive season the Starc is missing out due to one reason or the other. He missed out due to an ankle injury in 2016, opted-out of IPL 2017 to focus on the Champions Trophy.

Ahead of the 2018 IPL, he was picked by the Kolkata Knight Rider for a whopping Rs 9.4 Crores. Starc again missed the tournament due to a ‘bone stress’ injury he suffered.

Last time Starc played in IPL was in 2015 for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Ever since the date for auctions was announced, there was so much hype and talk about Mitchell Starc in the social media.

Mitchell Starc is one of the most successful and lethal white-ball bowlers going around. Fans were curious to know which franchise will end up buying him. The news of him opting out came as a surprise for the fans and the franchises.

England Test captain Joe Root is one of the other significant players whose name wasn’t in the draft list for IPL 2020 auctions. Glenn Maxwell, who has taken an indefinite break due to mental health issues, is listed in the IPL 2020 draft list.
