Kumble led ICC committee recommends ban on saliva to shine ball

Anil Kumble-led ICC committee via a confirmation call meeting recommended the ban of usage of saliva to shine the ball amid coronavirus pandemic.

The committee also talked about bringing back the two non-neutral umpires for all international matches.

The committee also saw no need to prohibit the use of sweat to polish the cricket ball whilst recommending that enhanced hygiene measures are implemented on and around the playing field.

“We are living through extraordinary times and the recommendations the committee made today are interim measures to enable us to safely resume cricket in a way that preserves the essence of our game,” Kumble said in an ICC release.

While many legends are against the idea, only time will tell how imbalance the game could be without the usage of saliva.

The recommendations will be put before the ICC Board for ratification.
