WTC Final: For once, let cricket not break their heart

Sixty-nine runs. That’s all that stands between South Africa and history.

And the one holding the pen in this moment is Temba Bavuma. He’s standing there, carrying a hamstring strain, and something heavier, the ghosts of South Africa’s past heartbreaks. But he’s still there, still fighting, rewriting the ending in real time.

But it’s not done yet.

Of course, Australia will come back harder. They always do. They are the cold climax writers, the heartbreakers. They’ve done it to India, to New Zealand, to Sri Lanka. You name it. They don’t care about fairytales. They are not here for that and will do whatever it takes to win.

But this isn’t just a fairytale. It’s a fight.
