It was said that the possibility of allowing external substance to keep the shine of the ball post-Cornavirus was raised by the ICC’s medical committee. This comes after the speculation on banning the use of saliva for shining the ball as a precautionary measure to avoid the spread of the pandemic.

A significant number of bowlers expressed their concern over the ban of using saliva, which will have an impact on their bowling and the lack of ball movement as the match progresses.
Ball-Tampering is one of the biggest Taboos in cricket. Earlier in 2018, David Warner, Steve Smith and Cameron Bancroft were banned for one year using sandpaper for altering the condition of the ball.
