UP farmer’s son who scored 98.2% will head to Cornell University

Anurag Tiwari, the son of a UP farmer and homemaker will be heading to Cornell University with 100 per cent scholarship after scoring 98.2% in CBSE 12th exams.

Hailing from Lakshimpur District, this is no mean feat considering no other person from his village has stepped out of India.

Anurag studied in VidyaGyan Academy, a residential, co-ed rural leadership academy by the Shiv Nadar Foundation in Uttar Pradesh.

Anurag got to know about VidyaGyan Academy through his cousin and his three sisters helped him prepare to get into the Academy. He then moved out of the house, studied as much as he can.

Talking about how he studied, Anurag said that the goal was to keep himself stress free. He said that he even played cricket in between exams and had enough sleep to stay fresh. Staying stress-free helped him, he says.

Now, he will be studying Economics and Mathematics at the undergraduate level in Cornell University. After that, he wants to come back to his village and help young kids to study.
