Anrich Nortje to replace Chris Woakes in Delhi Capitals | IPL 2020

The IPL franchise Delhi Capitals on Tuesday announced that Anrich Nortje will be replacing Chris Woakes in the squad.

The South African bowler made his international debut in 2019 and was awarded the new comer of the year.

He was a part of Kolkata Knight Riders the early season but missed out the tournament due to injury. Later, he was released by the franchise and went unsold in the auction.

On joining, the right-arm fast bowler said to Delhi Capitals, “I am excited to join the Delhi Capitals, a team that was the talk of the tournament last season. With its exciting mix of experienced and young players, and a stellar coaching line up, there is no doubt this is going to be a massive learning experience for me. I am grateful to the Delhi Capitals management for giving me this opportunity.”

He will be replacing England all-rounder Chris Woakes who pulled himself out of the tournament.

Nortje will join his South African teammate Rabada in the Delhi Capitals line-up.

The IPL begins from September 19 and the finals will be played on November 10th.
