New Zealand Pioneers: Peg Batty

Kathleen Elaine Batty was born on December 15th, 1921 in Auckland. She played multiple sports, won a junior title for New Zealand in Fencing. She made her international cricket debut in 1949 against England.

She then went on to play in four Tests where she batting in 7 innings and scored 67 runs and also had 2 wickets to her name. She last played for New Zealand in cricket in 1954. She had 742 runs and 89 wickets in her first-class career.

Not only that, She represented New Zealand in hockey from 1948 until 1953. She went on to captain the team for a good few matches as well.

She passed away on December 16th, 2008.
