Speaking in an Instagram live session with Delhi Capitals, Rishabh Pant said that MS Dhoni is always there to help but the veteran also makes sure that youngsters aren’t entirely dependent on him.
Pant, who was the first choice wicketkeeper until late 2019, is currently replaced by KL Rahul in the limited over fomat.
While talking about Dhoni, he said,” He has been like a mentor to me, on and off the field. I can approach him freely with any problem I may be facing, and he will never give me the entire solution for it.”
Calling Dhoni his favourite batting partner, Pant said that Dhoni does so because he doesn’t become entirely dependent on the former captain.
“If Mahi bhai is at the crease, you know things are sorted. He’s got a plan in his head, and all you need to do is follow it,” he said.
Dhoni, last played for India in the World Cup semifinal, was expected to have a big IPL season with Chennai Super Kings. However, the Coronavirus pandemic has put a halt to the IPL indefinitely.
