NZ vs AUS, 2nd ODI- Australia make it 23-0, wins their 18th bilateral series in a row

T20 WC, SF2, AUSTRALIA v SOUTH AFRICA: Match Preview

Nothing can stop this Australian team from winning, not even six wickets from Leigh Kasperek today as the visitors won the 2nd ODI by 71 runs. This is their 23rd win in a row, the record streak keeps getting better, and to add more, their 18th consecutive bilateral series win. Their last series loss came in 2013 against England.

Batting first, Australia began well as the openers added 82 runs for the first wicket. Healy got out for 44 and Lanning joined Haynes. Lanning then made 49 runs, got out for that score for the first time in her career.

Cameos from the lower order and 87 from Haynes took Australia to 271 in their fifty overs. The team should’ve got more but Kasperek didn’t allow any of the batters to settle. She ended up with 6 for 46.

In return, Down got out in the first over to Vlaeminck and the stand-in skipper Satterthwaite followed soon. Kerr then managed to build tiny partnerships with Jensen and Halliday before getting out for 47. After her dismissal, the team couldn’t stitch a proper partnership and ended up scoring only 200.

For Australia, Jess Jonassen grabbed three wickets and Wareham had two. Australia now has taken the ODI series as well with one more match to go.
