Two weeks after losing her mother, Veda Krishnamurthy loses her sister to COVID-19

Indian cricketer Veda Krishnamurthy recently lost her sister to coronavirus, just a few weeks after her mother’s demise.

On Wednesday, Veda’s elder sister Vatsala Shivakumar, 45, died at a private hospital in Chikkamagaluru, Karnataka. According to reports, she was shifted from the ICU to a general ward as her condition had improved but she died hours later. She is survived by a son, father, two sisters and a brother. Veda is the youngest sibling.

She took to social media to share the news, asked people to ‘Hold your loved ones tight and stay safe’.

“It is with great sadness that last night my family had to say goodbye to My Akka My family, my world has been rocked to its core. Appreciate all the messages and prayers . My thoughts with everyone going through these devastating times. Hold your loved ones tight and stay safe (sic)”, she wrote.

Veda has played 48 ODIs and 76 T20s for India.
