David Warner and Steve Smith break Bradmans’ records

David Warner scores Triple hundred

David Warner went past Sir Donald Bradman’s 334 on day two of the second Test against Pakistan at Adelaide. As soon as Warner crossed Bradman’s score, Australia declared their first innings at 589/3 with Warner scoring 335 not out.

After a string of low scores on his comeback in the Ashes series in England, Warner is back to his best in the home season. This is his second century in as many innings in the Paskitans’ tour of Australia.

Warner was toying the Pakistan bowlers and steamrolled towards his Test triple-hundred at a strike rate of 80. Fans in social media and commentators were expressing their excitement to see if he would go past Brian Lara’s 400.

However, Tim Paine called them back as soon as Warner went past the highest score of Bradman. Twitter erupted to disappointment as Warner was scoring quickly and given a chance, history could have been made in the next 30 minutes and it was still only the second session of day two.

Earlier, Steve Smith became the fastest batsman to breach the 7000 run mark breaking a 73-year-old record held by former England great Wally Hammond who reached the milestone in 131 innings. Smith took only 121 innings to get to the 7000 run mark. In doing so, Smith went past Donald Bradman to become the eleventh highest run-getter for Australia in Test cricket.
