IPL 2020: Who decides the base price?

IPL 2020 auction is around the corner and a whooping 971 players will go under the hammer this year. Unfortunately, most of them will go unsold as only 70-odd spot left.

While the talent and form play a major role when it comes to the auction, the other major factor is the base price.

For Indian players, the BCCI communicates with the state board with base prices for the players. However, the player can decrease or increase the price if they feel so.

The Overseas players set their own base price.

From 10 Lakhs to 2 crores, the base price is set and it certainly is tricky.
Most of the teams come to the auction with better plans and the players with minimum base price has the high chances of getting selected compared to the players with a high base price, especially when those players are not in a great form.

With Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy getting over only recently, the teams will be looking to bid their money on the uncapped talents and I’m sure there will a lot of stars coming into the limelight this year.
