Qiang Wang knocks Serena Williams out in the 3rd Round

One of the favourites to win the Australian Open 2020, Serena Williams suffered defeat in the 3rd round, thanks to Qiang Wang’s excellent display.

Wang, who was looking for revenge after facing an embarrassing defeat in the last year US Open Quarterfinals where the American thrashed her 6-1,6-0, displayed some brilliance and was quick enough to pick up the first set, 6-4. She played bravely once again to take the break and was serving for the match.

Serena raised her level as expected and came back from 3-5 to win the second set in the tie-breaker. Things were evenly matched in the third set, however, Wang found her way at 6-5, to break Williams and took the match at 7-5.

Wang certainly had her moments with 25 winners today. This is the first time since 2006, Serena will not be featuring in the second week of Grand Slam tournament.
