The power couple Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli were blessed with baby girl today.
Kohli took to social media to announce the news.
Virat’s statement read, “We are thrilled to share with you that we have been blessed with a baby girl this afternoon. We thank you all for your love, prayers and good wishes. Anushka and the baby are both healthy and we are feeling beyond blessed to start this new chapter of our lives. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Love, Virat.”
Wishes came pouring for them from all parts of the world. One of them to wish the couple early was Virat Kohli’s teammate and India’s vice-captain Rohit Sharma.
Rohit quoted Virat’s tweet and wrote- “Incredible feeling this. Congratulations to both of you. God bless.”
Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma was named as the stand-in vice-captain in the Sydney Test in the absence of Virat Kohli.
India went on to pull off an excellent draw against Australia in the Test. Beginning from Rohit Sharma’s half-century, India looked good for a win. On Day five, Rishabh Pant’s 97 and Cheteshwar Pujara’s half-century took India closer but when they both fell, India had no way than to block the Test, blame injuries.
Both Hanuma Vihari and Ravi Ashwin were injured but went on to carry on to play out the day. The Test series still hangs in balance with 1 win apiece.
