Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur has been ruled out of the 1st T20I, confirms Smriti Mandhana during the press conference on the eve of the series starter.
Kaur was batting well in the fifth ODI alongside Mithali Raj before she picked up an injury and had to retire hurt. She didn’t come back to the field in the 2nd innings.
Now, Mandhana has confirmed that she will not be available for the 1st match which begins on Saturday.
“She [Kaur] has been ruled out of tomorrow’s match and rest of the updates on her injury will be given by the medical team and the team management,” Mandhana said.
Mandhana will be captaining the side in her absence.
Mandhana also confirmed that India will be going in with the same opening partnership they had in the final of the World Cup T20I last year.
Shafali Verma, who couldn’t find a place in the ODI squad, returns to the team for the 1st T20I.
India will be looking to bounce back after losing the ODI series 4-1.
