Ahead of Indian Premier League in 2021, Kings XI Punjab will now be called as Punjab Kings to “add fresh feel” to the franchise ahead of the new season.
According to Mohit Burman, one of the co-owners of the franchise, the franchise had discussion with the owners, super fans and with closed groups before arriving to the name.
The new logo of the franchise will be unveiled a day before the auction. The team has INR 53.9 crore in the purse having released some of the major buys from last year.
The team has also has nine slots to fill including five overseas slot.
Last year the franchise spent INR 68.5 crore out of the total purse of 85 crore. KL Rahul captained the season and the team began well but lost their way in the middle to end at number six.
