Netizens help Kenyan woman who pretended to cook stones as food for her starving kids

The world is facing coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown isn’t fun for everyone. Most of the people in the world are starving without food. However, the respective Government is doing their best to help out people.

In a recent incident, a Kenyan woman was seen boiling stones for her starving kids.

The mother Peninah who lives in Mombasa pretended to cook meals for her children and thought that they would eventually go to sleep.

Peninah, a widower, used to work as washerwoman and is out of job due to coronavirus pandemic.

With no money left to feed her kids who couldn’t understand the situation, she decided to pretend.

However, her kids didn’t go to sleep as she expected.

Her neighbour caught the incident on camera, alerted social media for help.

Her video went viral and many Organizations came forward to help her.

The Kenya Red Cross, the County Government of Mombasa and other well-wishers on Thursday, April 30, paid her a visit with a number of donations.

Due to her story that went viral, a number of families at Mleji village in Kisauni will benefit from Mombasa County Household Relief programme with around 6,000 households in the area set to receive help.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, she expressed her joy on receiving the donations, “There are so many people who have turned out to help, I have not counted the exact number, they have brought a variety of foodstuff. I have asked the neighbours to also be cooked for so that we celebrate together today.”
