Police called after Dutch T20 Cup match ends in conflict

A conflict arose between two teams on Friday, and the match was later abandoned, and the police were called.

The incident took place in the Dutch T20 cup during the match between Hermes-DVS and Punjab. The players Olivier Elenbaas and Mohsin Baja began verbal dispute after a failed appeal for a catch.

Punjab captain Suleiman Tariq and the umpires quickly intervened, but both players were sent off under Law 42, on the basis that each had allegedly committed a Level 4 offence.

Before the police could reach the place, the dispute was solved and no further action was taken.

However, Hermes refused to return to the game and the match was then called off.

Competition director Bart Kroesen confirmed on Saturday that the umpires’ reports had been received, and the matter had been passed to match referee Rob Kemming and to the KNCB Board.
