Rohit to take a break, Bumrah, Dhawan return to T20 squad against Sri Lanka!

India’s squad which will be facing the Sri Lankan team was announced on Monday and Fit-again pacer Jasprit Bumrah will be returning to India’s T20 and ODI squads for next month’s home assignments.

After facing the Sri Lankans, the Indian team will face Australia in a three-match ODI series. The first ODI will be played on January 14 in Mumbai. The remaining two matches will be played on January 17 and 19. Bumrah is fit to play the series as well.

Opener Shikhar Dhawan, who injured his knee and required 25 stitches, has also made a comeback to both the squads, chairman of selectors M S K Prasad announced after a meeting of the five-member panel.

However, the vice-captain Rohit Sharma who had a great 2019 season will miss the first assignment of 2020 as the former asked for a break. Sharma will return to the ODIs against Australia.

“The selectors normally don’t give rest to anyone in the T20 team, but Rohit has been on the road for quite a while now. He has informed the Board that he wants to take rest for this series,” a source in the Board told TOI.

Along with Rohit, pacer Mohammed Shami has also been rested from the T20 series against Sri Lanka.
