Sourav Ganguly officially takes over as BCCI president

Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has officially taken over as the BCCI President becomes the first cricketer to lead the Board in 65 years.

Ganguly accepted his position from the board’s electoral officer N Gopalaswami in the presence of the three outgoing CoA members ( Vinod Rai, Diana Edulji and Lt Gen (retd) Ravi Thodge) whom he along with the other four office-bearers replace.

The CoA members took care of the proceedings for the past 33 months.

Ganguly will now serve as the president for the next 9 to 10 months then he will serve the cooling-off period.
