South African management turned down AB de Villiers’ offer to play in the World Cup!

The South African Management turned down the offer of AB de Villiers to play in the ongoing World Cup.

Apparently, De Villiers met the captain Faf du Plessis, the selectors and the team management a day before the World Cup squad was announced and expressed his thoughts of playing in the World Cup. De Villiers was ready to reverse his decision of retirement which he announced in 2018, May.

The management has done the right thing by turning down the offer because it will be unfair to the other players who have been performing well in his absence and also, De Villiers didn’t meet the selection criteria as he didn’t appear in any of the domestic tournaments.

Though this happened a month back, the news got the limelight because of the forgettable performance of the South African team who lost all the three games they played so far and they need to win all the six matches to stand a chance to qualify for the semi-finals.

AB de Villiers has 9577 runs at an average of 53.50 in his ODI career.
