Swapna Barman and her connection to Rahul Dravid

Most of us know that the former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid is mentoring the upcoming cricketers. The likes of Prithvi Shaw, Hardik Pandya and a few others to name are all groomed by none other than ‘Wall’.

But a very few know that Dravid also plays a major role in the upliftment of Indian athletes such as Kidambi Srikanth, Dattu Bhokanal, Anjum Moudgil, the 2018 Asian games winner Swapna Barman.

The Rahul Dravid Athlete Mentorship programme had seen 20 athletes selected via Go sports foundation. As the part of the program, the foundation will provide crucial and timely support to the selected athletes.

It was the financial support provided by the foundation helped out Swapna, who battled gum infection and ran with a bandaged jaw to give the country a prestigious gold medal.

Her inspiring journey has gone viral on the social media and now, the West Bengal CM has assured Rupees 10 Lakhs for the Heptathlete.
