There is a gang spreading some false rumours: AR Rahman on doing less Bollywood films

The Indian legend AR Rahman needs no introduction. He is around for years now and has given many memorable albums. However, in his career, he has done a fewer Bollywood films compared to Kollywood.

Recently, he made an appearance in Radio Mirchi’s weekly Top 20 Celeb Special Show. During the show, RJ Suren spoke about his works in Bollywood including Tamasha, Dil Se, Roja and his latest work, Dil Bechara. He also asked him on why he does fewer Bollywood films compared to Kollywood.

Talking about the same, AR Rahman said that there is a gang is spreading false news about him due to misunderstandings. He didn’t know about it until the director of Dil Bechara approached him for the songs. The debutant director was shocked about how quick AR Rahman was able to finish four songs. He then went on to say that there were people who suggested not to go to AR Rahman.

It was the moment he realized why he is doing limited works in Bollywood, AR Rahman said.

He said- “I don’t say no to good movies, but I think there is a gang, which, due to misunderstandings, is spreading some false rumours.

“When Mukesh Chhabra came to me, I gave him four songs in two days. He told me, ‘Sir, how many people said don’t go, don’t go to him (AR Rahman) and they told me stories after stories.’ I heard that, and I realised, yeah okay, now I understand why I am doing less (work in Hindi films) and why the good movies are not coming to me. I am doing dark movies, because there is a whole gang working against me, without them knowing that they are doing harm.”

He added, “People are expecting me to do stuff, but there is another gang of people preventing that from happening. It is fine, because I believe in destiny, and I believe that everything comes from God. So, I am taking my movies and doing my other stuff. But all of you are welcome to come to me. Make beautiful movies, and you are welcome to come to me.”

AR Rahman’s latest work Dil Bechara starred late Sushant Singh and Sanjana Sanghi. It was the last film of the late actor and was released on Disney+ Hotstar recently.

Dil Bechara is a remake of ‘The Fault in our Stars’.
