Tamil Nadu: People conduct march to protest against CAA

On Wednesday, thousands of common people joined for a march against CAA. The rally began at 10 am from Kalaivanar Arangam and the protestors marched towards Secretariat at Fort St. George in Chennai.

The march held despite Madras High Court passing an interim order Tuesday denying permission for the same.

In Chennai alone, police estimate over 30,000 protesters and hundreds of police were present, controlling the march. Drone cameras were used to monitor the crowd.

Additionally, the security was tightened at the Secretariat with only government vehicles granted entry to the premises.

The protest took place in different places of Tamil Nadu, including Coimbatore, Vellore, Thirunelveli.

In Chennai, the protest ended by 2 pm and the traffic was restored.
