T20 WC, 18th match, AUS v NZ: It’s a do or die for both teams

Nobody would have thought this through. Nobody would have thought that India would put Australia into all sorts of trouble at their home soil. Australia is a champion team and you expect them to go there and be the first team to qualify for the World Cup knock-outs.

However, things have changed here and if you blink you will miss it. Australia has dominated New Zealand since 2017 in all formats of the game. New Zealand now has a chance of eliminating them at their home soil.

Both the teams know each other very well and as most of the New Zealand players feature in WBBL, they know each other personally as well. So, this is going to be interesting.

In the recent edition of WBBL, Sophie Devine dominated every single bowler she came across and Australia does know the amount of damage she can cause. Having said that, New Zealand does not have a player other than Bates and Devine to trust when there is a collapse.

For Australia, Perry is doubtful as she injured her hip during the previous clash. However, the team is packed with experienced performers who are single-handedly capable of winning the matches for the team.

If Australia can get Bates and Devine out, they have the game almost under control. For New Zealand, they must come up with something like the player to player marking to get rid of the players early.

Expect for more spinners taking the frontline for both the teams.
