COVID-19: Tirupati Tirumala temple to be closed to visitors till March 31

As a precautionary measure for the COVID-19 outbreak, the Andhra Pradesh Health minister Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas announced that the Venkateshwara temple in Tirupati will be closed to visitors till March 31.

After the state Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy met with the health department, the government announced that major temples, churches and mosques will be shut till March 31, 2020.

The evening darshan is planned to be halted from Thursday with the second Ghat road used by the visitors already closed. But, pujas and other rituals will continue and from Friday the two ghat roads will also be closed.

The state has reported two cases of so far, and both have travel history to affected nations.

The state government has already shut down all the educational institutions until the end of this month.

They have also requested to the public to avoid public gatherings and postpone functions and other programs they have already planned as a precautionary measure for the COVID-19 outbreak.
