PM CARES funds received close to Rs 9500 crores so far

In an extensive analysis by Indiaspend, it has been reported that at least Rs 9,677.9 crore received for PM CARES fund so far. It is a COVID-19 special relief fund announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 28, 2020.

According to Indiaspend, the cumulative amount from the government and media release by the private organisations and other donators, the approximate amount would be as mentioned earlier. The actual amount could be more.

It has reported that Rs 4,308.3 crore has been donated by government agencies and staff of which Rs 438.8 crore would amount to the one-day salary cut of the government employees. A minimum of Rs 5,369.6 crore of corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds would be raised by the corporate organisations.

Apart from this, Rs 1250 crore is further pledged to be donated by the government agencies in the next financial year. Private sectors have contributed Rs 772.4 crore, while celebrities accounted for Rs 53.8 crore and foreign companies have raised close to Rs 22 crore.

On May 13, PM announced that Rs 3,100 crore from PM CARES had been allocated for COVID-19 works. This accounts for 32% of the total sum, and it has been the only announcement regarding PM CARES so far.
