Priest beheads a man in Odisha claiming to put an end to Coronavirus

In an unexpected incident, Odisha police have arrested a priest for allegedly beheading a man believing that it would put an end to the Coronavirus outbreak.


The 70-year-old accused was identified as Sansari Ojha, a priest in the Goddess Brahmani temple fo Cuttack. The victim Saroj Kumar Pradhan, who was a 55-year-old man, came to offer prayers to the temple on Wednesday.

It has been reported that the accused claimed to have got his orders to behead a man to put an end to the pandemic from Goddess Brahmani.

Alok Ranjan Ray, the Subdivisional Police Officer at Athagarh, said that the accused had confessed his crimes and surrendered to the police.

“During interrogation, the priest admitted to committing the murder claiming that it was an order from the goddess,” he said. On the other hand, it has been reported that there was a long-standing rivalry between the two regarding a mango orchard in the outskirts of the village.
