Anju Jain to coach Baroda women’s team

Former Indian wicketkeeper Anju Jain has been appointed as the coach of Baroda Women’s cricket team whereas, Devieka Palshikaar will be the bowling coach for the team.

“I will be joining the Baroda women’s team as soon as I get guidelines from the BCA,” Jain told TOI.

Anju Jain represented India for 12 years and had also captained the squad during Women’s Cricket World Cup in 2000. She retired in 2005 and went on to become the selector for Indian women’s team before taking up coaching.

She then became the coach of Bangladesh. Under her guidance, Bangladesh defeated India for the first time in the Asia Cup to create history. While Bangladesh had a great run in 2018, their performance wasn’t commendable in the recently concluded world cup.

Jain’s contract ended recently and she didn’t apply for an extension, instead, she opted to take up the role of Baroda’s coach.

She has already played with a few players in the team and undoubtedly, this is going to be great.
