A petition has been filed in the Madras High Court seeking the arrest of Indian cricket skipper Virat Kohli and actress Tamannah for promoting online gambling.

The petition was filed by a Chennai based advocate. He wrote to MHC to ban online gambling apps that are making news for a long time now.

He added that these apps are not only addictive but also dangerous. Many youngsters are losing their lives because of the same. He also spoke about a youngster who recently lost his life after losing money in gambling.

He compared the gambling apps to ‘Blue Whale Challenge’ and further added that gambling companies are using stars like Virat Kohli and Tamannah to brainwash youngsters and therefore, both should be arrested for it.

The petitioner also said that youngsters borrow money at high-interest rate and commit suicide once they are unable to make profits at these online gambling sites.

The case has been posted for a hearing on Tuesday.

On work front, Virat Kohli will be travelling to Dubai to play the Indian Premier League which will take place in the month of September.

Due to coronavirus pandemic, the tournament was postponed and will be going ahead from September to November in the UAE.
