More time for preparation: Mithali Raj on World Cup being postponed

In the ICC meeting today, the fate of ODI World Cup 2021 was decided and as a result, the World Cup was postponed to 2022.

Despite the fact that New Zealand, which will be hosting the World Cup, is Coronavirus-free, the World Cup has been postponed and one possible reason we all could think of is the qualifiers.

The World Cup qualifiers was supposed to happen in 2020 and due to the increasing cases of coronavirus, there is no word about the tournament.

Now, maybe, due to this, the World Cup has been postponed to 2022.

Moving the World Cup to a year later means, this might be the end for legendary players who might have hung their boots after 2021 World Cup.

Of course, Indian captain Mithali Raj earlier told that her aim is to play and win the 2021 World Cup before hanging her boots. Mithali Raj will be turning 38 by December and the future was a bit uncertain.

However, the good news is that, Mithali Raj cleared the air and took to social media to say that she is looking into positives, this means more time for preparations.

Now, this is something all the cricket fans can cheer for and of course, let’s not look too much into the future because we might never know. While I want to see Mithali Raj end up on the high note, it will be interesting to see how things hold up considering the age factor. There is no doubts, she is the superstar of the game but at the end of the day, team comes before the player.
