COVID19: Captain Manpreet and 4 other Indian hockey players tested positive

Five Indian men’s Hockey players including national team captain Manpreet Singh tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday.

The other four players are – Surender Kumar, Jaskaran Singh, Varun Kumar and goalkeeper Krishan B Pathak.

“I am self quarantined on the SAI campus and I am very happy with the way SAI authorities have handled the situation…I am doing fine and hope to recover very soon,” Manpreet said in the statement issued by SAI.

The players tested positive after returning to the national hockey camp at the SAI South Centre in Bengaluru following a month-long break.

However, the camp will go on with the remaining players.

Earlier, the players were stranded at the centre for over two months (till June) when a national lockdown was imposed to contain the virus.
