India tour to Sri Lanka postponed

India’s proposed tour to Sri Lanka is indefinitely postponed due to the sudden rise in the number of cases in Sri Lanka.

India and Sri Lanka were supposed to play three T20Is and five ODIs in the proposed tour.

Currently, most of the Indian players are in UAE for the Women’s T20 challenge. Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu is also a part of the tournament along with former Sri Lankan all-rounder Siriwardena.

The team was supposed to fly to Sri Lanka after this tournament and was supposed to undergo quarantine before participating in the tour. Now, there is uncertainty and the players are most likely to return to the country after the T20 challenge.

According to the reports, India are currently working on a tour to Australia next January.

Earlier, India was supposed to tour to England for a bilateral which then turned to a tri-series with South Africa but the tour was cancelled due to the increasing coronavirus cases in the country.

Later, West Indies travelled to England and participated in both ODI as well as T20 series.

Indian players returned to the game after a long hiatus with the women T20 Challenge which is currently taking place in UAE.
