INDW V NZW, 2ND ODI: Smriti Mandhana gives away her award to the bowlers

The Indian team which is currently touring New Zealand has won their second ODI, thereby winning the series with a match more to go.

New Zealand couldn’t survive the spin attack from the visitors once again after asking to bat first. The hosts New Zealand managed to score only 161 with the captain Amy Saththerwaite top scoring at 71. Other than that, there wasn’t much contribution from the side. Jhulan Goswami picked up three wickets while the spin trio-Deepti, Ekta, Poonam- picked two wickets each.

In reply, India lost two wickets early but the experienced hands of Smriti Mandhana and Mithali Raj (63*) took the team home. Smriti was awarded the player of the match for her unbeaten 90.

During the presentation ceremony, Smriti told that she would give away the award to the bowlers.

“I will be giving this award to all the bowlers in the team. They deserve it for bowling New Zealand Women out for 161 on such a track,” Mandhana said.
